Why Car Insurance is Very Important
We never know when car accidents happen. Even if you just park your car in the parking lot or in your garage, sometimes if you are unlucky enough, accident will still surprise you.
The passenger’s door at the driver’s side was damaged. I love my car. It is not a luxury one but it serves it purpose of bringing me everywhere. It needs to be repaired soon.
This morning something happened to my car when I went to the town hall. I have to go there to get some important papers. After taking my tea and a pair of toasted bread with butter and marmalade, I was deciding whether I will just walk or will drive my car in going to the town hall. I finally decided to drive because I was thinking, it was very cold and it was also showering. Besides, I have a lot of things to do and I want to go home immediately after the errand.
When I was on the second floor of the town hall, a woman went up that time. I was already done with my transaction with one of the employees and just came out of the office. I even greeted the woman “guten morgen”, German words which means good morning. I guess, she is in her 60’s. She also went to one of the offices in the town hall. One of the employees went out with her at the door and asked me if I owned that gray car parked in front of building. I said, yes, it is my car.
The woman said that she hit my car when she was backing up. I am thankful that she did not ran away after the incident. This is only one thing, I admire with German people, a lot of them are honest. If it happened to other countries in Europe like in Poland, Hungary or Czech Republic, probably the driver already escape or ran away especially when nobody sees or witnessed the incident.
Accident indeed happened. I immediately asked for her name, telephone number and address. I also wrote down the plate number of her car. I asked her if I have to call the police but she said that no need to do that because she will also inform her car insurance company.
I also gave her my details including name, address, telephone number and the plate number of my car. It is good that we live in the same place. In fact, after some minutes after I went home, her husband also went with her and knocked on our door. They took a look of the damage in my car.
It was quite a big damage. I believed I need a new door in the passenger’s seat in driver’s side. If I will have it fixed, I guess the repair will cost more than a new door.

Tomorrow, we will go to the repair shop in the next town and will asked for an estimate of the cost of the repair or the cost of the new door and its installation. We will see.
See, I just parked my car but still accident happened. It is an advantage for me because I did not caused the accident. The woman who caused it will surely pay for cost of the damages, if not her car insurance will shoulder the cost of the repair.
In this instance, car insurance is really very important. I am just thankful that this is not really a bad car accident. Some people lost their lives during car accidents in the road or in the highway. I told the woman the same. No life was lost so it is not really that bad.
The bad thing is, if she let the insurance shoulder the damages, then she has to expect that her car insurance premium will increase. I don’t know exactly how much but it will surely do.
If you drive a car, you better be sure that you are paying your car insurance premium on time. When something happens while you are driving, at least you have an insurance who will help you in times of needs.
