Vacation is Over, Back to Reality Now!
How have you been folks! I was away for 15 days and it seems like yesterday when that travels to Turkey and Greece took place. I am happy to be backed home again but sad at the same time because that wonderful trips to those countries are over now. All I can say, I had a great time seeing and experiencing many places again.
I actually don’t know how to start this post. Those beautiful and amazing places I visited recently are still haunting me. I still don’t have the appetite to do anything but still manage to do some home chores and garden works when I arrived home. I still have some free days off to do some things and I want to finish some home chores before going to work again soon.
I am still not feeling well after being caught by colds during the cruise trip in Greece. I am very thankful that inspite not feeling well, I still have the adrenaline to travel and see the breathtaking beauty of Greece and Turkey.
Round Trip in Turkey
That one week round trip in Turkey was great. Even though, I already visited some of the places back in 2011, I am still glad to visit it again. From time to time there are so many changes and improvements that took place for the span of four years especially in the famous ruins of Ephesus. That second visit in Pergamon was also amazing. I can always visit historic ruins like this and I always love it. For some reasons, I am fascinated with the ancient structures and architectures.
It was also my second time seeing the travertines in Pamukkale but during that second visit, I finally stepped on to these wonderful nature. The tour in the Hierapolis, a city built on top of the white “castle” was the highlight of my trip in Pamukkale. Visiting the Rock-cut tombs in Myra was also a fascinating experience. I cannot forget the setting of the Temple of Zeus Lepsinos at Euromus, another interesting ruins in the Muğla Province in Turkey.
History, architecture and works of human hands, I cannot forget the gymnasium of Sardis, the Remains of the Byzantine shops, the view of the Sardis Synagogue and the ruins of the Temple of Artemis. Sardis was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Lydia, one of the important cities of the Persian Empire. As one of the Seven churches of Asia, it was addressed by the author John of the Book of Revelation in the Holy Bible in terms which seem to imply that its population was notoriously soft and fainthearted.
That visit to Antalya was really short but still I am glad to be there and had experienced some of its sights. I had a wonderful time walking on the ruins of Priene, an ancient Greek city of Ionia, who now belongs to Turkey. It is located at a short distance west of the modern village Güllübahçe Turun in the Söke district of Aydın Province.
The highlight of the trip was the one week cruise in Greece visiting Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes Island, Simi, Chios, Athens and Crete. I would like to share about it in my future post.
For now, I am quite tried and sleepy. I would like to wish everyone a wonderful evening! Goodnight and take care folks!
